I actually had time and inspiration for craftiness! I was productive! Despite the fact that I went to bed at 4 am and feel like a zombie right now, just being able to use pent up creativity feels great!
I just found this great website that helps you get organized and the best part . . . its free!!
Its called Cozi.com. It has a place for grocery lists, general lists, a private mini journal (great for quicks notes of the day that can later be used for inspiration when blogging on your own personal blog), a calender with event scheduler and more stuff thats pretty useful. Also, its all online so you access it anywhere, and you can even have some of the content texted to yourself or another family member in a flash.
I know i sound like a commercial but I really like this thing lol.
What's your favorite time of day and why?
I have 2 different times i love . . .
The kids are always keeping me busy. There's always some kind of commotion going on, good or bad. But usually, in the morning, about 9:30 am the kids have had breakfast and settled into some artsy or crafty activity. Its so great to see them focusing on something so intently. I usually join them, but sometimes I just watch. Its one, if not the only completely peaceful part of the day I spend with the kids.
and then there's 9:30 pm . . . yes about 12 hrs later . . . when the kids are all tucked in bed.
I love this time. I've cleaned up the dinner mess and now I can take the time to just chill. Sometimes my husband takes a break from his freelance endeavors and joins me. We talk, have a drink, or maybe something caffeinated (to prep for a late night working) and sometimes we indulge with the latest Netflix (if things freelance-wise are slow.)
For a busy mom and dad these moments are like tiny little vacations in an otherwise hectic life.
So I've started this little guy here. Sadly he doesn't have a face or name yet. All I know is he's made of chocolate and is apparently yummy ;)
And this right here is my pretty new Janome Hello Kitty sewing machine. Shes a bit smaller than my regular machine, but she really lights up my little sewing space. Most likely my almost 6 yr old G. will be using her more than me. I know the pics are a bit shabby (I used my laptop built-in) Next time I'll be sure to use my digi cam.
Both G. and C. were actually in bed by 8pm when DH got home and took over bedtime just in time to turn off the light and sing songs. I went off for a much needed shower/break.
By the time I finished showering and dilly dallying a bit, DH had already put S. down too and was on his way downstairs to fix us a snack (i felt so proud of him).
Anyway, as I quietly stepped out the bathroom I heard a small soft voice coming from the kid's room, I decided to listen in. My 5 yr old daughter, G. was telling her little brother a story. I heard her describing a princess with "no ordinary hair, it was black and red, and pink and purple," and that this princess and her little brother were about to "embark on a dangerous journey". My heart filled with pride once more. Sometimes she can be so kind it leaves me in awe. She ended the story for the night by reaching a point "too scary to tell at night" and she didn't want her little brother to have nightmares. Soon after the room fell silent and I sat there on the floor silently thinking about how much my kids and husband mean to me and how I'm so lucky to have them.
Hello Voxers!
I hope to write here often and tell of mommy things, wifely musings, craftiness, and sometimes a little bit of me too.
:)
